Four Ways To Upgrade Your Bathroom - Cut Plastic Sheeting

Four Ways To Upgrade Your Bathroom

The bathroom can be one of the most used places in a house and when it starts to look run down, renovations can become expensive. But, you don’t need to renovate your whole bathroom in order to make the room look new and updated! Here we have listed four ideas on how you can upgrade the look of your bathroom by using only sheet material. And, to make it easier, we can cut sheets to your custom size and shape.

1. Create some additional shelving

Over time, bathrooms can begin to get cluttered and space becomes limited. Adding in new shelving can be an ideal solution for some additional storage. Acrylic sheeting can be used for sturdy wall shelves and it comes in many different colours so you can easily match your current colour scheme and can brighten up a bare wall. Or, if you want to modernise your shelving solution, using clear acrylic sheets for floating shelves gives it a seamless look.

2. Add some colour with an Acrylic Splashback

Bathroom splashbacks are a great cost-effective way to upgrade your bathroom and add in some colour. Our clear and coloured acrylic sheets have waterproof properties that allow them to be perfect for the bathroom. Or, if you want to give off a more premium look, our high gloss sheets come in a range of different colours too. The application of an acrylic splashback is simple. All that is required is to seal the sheet down with a CT1 Sealant & Construction Adhesive to make it watertight. If you currently have tiles down, you can also place it on top of your existing tiles.

3. Switch out your tiles

Retiling walls can be one of the most expensive and time-consuming options when refurbing your bathroom. However, using sheet material around the walls is becoming an increasingly popular option due to its reduction in costs and labour. The two commonly used material for wall panelling is PVC and Acrylic. PVC is a more lightweight material than acrylic but both are great alternatives to choose from than traditional tiles. Also, using sheet material is a user-friendly process which makes it ideal for DIY jobs.

It is important to remember that acrylic expands slightly due to heat. So when installing your sheet, we advise that you leave a 2mm gap to allow for the increase in size. For more information and expert advice on how to install acrylic sheets, take a look at our two blogs: Preparing For Installation and The Installation Process.

4. Install a new shower screen

If you have an old shower curtain that is looking a bit worse for wear, replacing it with an acrylic shower screen can make all the difference. Acrylic sheets are also extremely easy to install and they have added durable qualities which could save you some money in the future as they will not have to be replaced constantly. If you don’t want a clear acrylic sheet, we also have solid colours or even tinted effect acrylic sheets to allow you some privacy.
