FAQ – Acrylic Splashbacks

If you are installing a new kitchen, an acrylic Splashbacks is vital if you want to stay ‘on trend.   Modern, colourful and adding that ‘designer effect’, acrylic Splashbackshave changed the way we decorate our kitchens today, and is the easiest way to update a tired-looking room and dated cabinets.

What are Acrylic Splashbacks?

Acrylic Splashbacks are used to cover the walls behind your hob or sink, replacing tiles and protecting your wall surfaces from food splashes and water damage.

Why are Splashbacks better than tiles?

Acrylic Splashbacks are usually fitted in one solid piece, and therefore have no ‘joins’ in which bacteria can accumulate.  Tiles are individual items joined together with grout that can collect bacteria and may discolour over time.

Easier to clean and maintain than tiles, acrylic Splashbacks wipe clean with a simple soap and water solution, and will not fade or chip.

Why should I use acrylic Splashbacks rather than glass Splashbacks?

Glass Splashbacks are more expensive and more susceptible to chipping, cracks and breakage than acrylic Splashbacks.

Attracting dust and greasy fingerprints, glass Splashbacks are more difficult to keep clean and may shatter if accidentally knocked with kitchen appliances.

Are acrylic Splashbacks heat-resistant?

Yes, acrylic has an excellent temperature range from -30 to 160°F, so it is well suited to this application.

Can acrylic Splashbacks be applied to any surface?

As acrylic Splashbacks are extremely lightweight, they are easily attached to almost every surface.  To achieve the best results, have your splashback cut to size by professionals and attach it to a clean, flat surface with acrylic adhesive.

Will acrylic Splashbacks match my existing kitchen?

The beauty of acrylic Splashbacks is that they are available in a range of colours, including standard black and white sheets, so they will match any colour and complement every style of kitchen.
