A Guide to Garden Mirrors

Garden mirrors are a great addition to any garden and can make such a positive impact to your outdoor space. It is a timeless trend that can be designed in a number of different ways. With cut to size mirrors, you can decide whether you want a small mirror to brighten up shady corners in your garden, or you can even create a full garden wall mirror design – the possibilities are endless!

What are some benefits of having an outdoor mirror?

Outdoors mirrors have various practical and aesthetic benefits. If you use either aluminium composite or acrylic mirror in your garden, both of these materials are durable, highly impact resistant and shatterproof so it minimises any risk to injury which is great if you have young children. Additionally, garden mirrors can become a focal point of your garden and they can create the illusion of depth and a sense of extra space. Especially for small gardens, mirrors are a great way to open up a small area.

What is the best material to use for outdoor mirrors?

Our premium external aluminium composite mirrored sheet is a great alternative to glass mirrors and is perfect to use outdoors. It offers a high mirror finish and is ideal for large garden mirrors where the quality of the reflection is important. Alternatively, you can use acrylic mirrors which can come in various different colours but acrylic mirror will tend to absorb moisture if exposed to high humidity or damp environments, this will cause a temporary warpage of the material which still distorts the reflection.

Can you use a normal mirror outside?

Technically you can use a standard mirror that you have found at home, but depending on the material it probably won’t last long in an external environment and won’t give off the same aesthetic effect.

What shape of mirror is best for the garden?

The shape of your outdoor mirror depends on what type of style you like! If you want a circular mirror, we offer mirrored acrylic discs or if you want an arch mirror, we can cut rounded corners to suit you or cut it to your specific design. We can even drill holes into your mirror to make it easier for you to hang on your garden walls.

There are so many different ways you can display a garden mirror in your outdoor space, take a look at some of these ideas:
